Over the past 17 years or so, I have had the great pleasure of working with a mighty fine web designer, Sheri Huffman. Using the magic of the Internet, we have communicated and worked together via telephone and email all these years. Sheri has designed, edified, guided, suggested, instructed, elucidated, coached, and coaxed me through the obfuscatory maize of three web site designs, and two blog sites, all with grace and patience.
Not often do we meet someone who has many common issues, but Sheri and I shared the similar experience of caring for an aging parent. We often cried on each other’s shoulders discussing the emotional tribulations of this responsibility. About 3 years ago after much heartache, she called one day to tell me her father had died. Then in August of 2012, my mother died also. It was good for both of us to have that shoulder, even though a faraway one.
In 2010 when I was in Dallas for the American Women Artist National Exhibit, Sheri and I met in the flesh for the first time. She, Dave, and I spent a delightful afternoon together. It was fun putting a face to the voice I had only known over the telephone.
Therefore, of course, when we were planning our visit to San Antonio for the Salon International 2014 Exhibit in April, we stopped to visit with Sheri again at the Bangkok Thai restaurant in North Dallas. We chattered non-stop for hours.
Isn’t it interesting the twists and turns our lives take and whom we meet along the way? My career has given me the grand opportunity of meeting people like Sheri during my now over 40-year odyssey in the art world. She is certainly one of the splendid highlights.
