Chiaroscuro Painting
Oil painting with the chiaroscuro technique illuminates the focus area with a strong light. All other areas are painted with less detail, lower values, and intensity of color giving a mysterious appearance. By putting one or two objects in the important focus area, a strong but simple composition will emerge. Combining these oil painting techniques with a selection of superior natural pigments and oil paints result in the beautiful and evocative quality known as Chiaroscuro Painting.

Dear Margret,
Once again you are magnificent. This is a new color palette you are using. I’m so used to your beautiful reds, blues, yellows, and whites. There is a true match in the color and the use of light is dramatic. A sense of mystery. My first born twins grandsons are musicians. They play euphonium and bass clarinet, and pretty much anything else they want to pick up and play.
Jo, Your grandchildren sound like very talented kids. I think you should bring them to my studio so they can play my Oud for me. Glad you like the colors in the painting. I will be posting the image in its entirety very soon.
Best, Margret
