Indigenous Naturals Project

Indigenous Naturals: Earth and Mineral Pigments Found in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest

During this newest pigment project, there were surprise twists and discoveries with 1942 US Military Government connections. Five new paintings featuring colors found right here in Oregon, and those used by the military for camouflage purposes. The breadth and variety of Oregon’s natural pigments is stunning; terre verde, cinnabar, azurite, burnt umber, yellow ochre, and many others.
