Quintessential Blue comes to an end. All paintings are on view at Bronze Coast Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Thank you for following my stories of the endless varieties and beauty of the color blue. Thanks also to Holly Brown and Gary Everest for sending their beautiful photos of the ocean to help compare the blue pigments to the true-blues of the water. If you have any suggestions for another pigment project, please let me know. I always love hearing from you.

Chiaroscuro Painting

Oil painting with the chiaroscuro technique illuminates the focus area with a strong light. All other areas are painted with less detail, lower values, and intensity of color giving a mysterious appearance. By putting one or two objects in the important focus area, a strong but simple composition will emerge. Combining these oil painting techniques with a selection of superior natural pigments and oil paints result in the beautiful and evocative quality known as Chiaroscuro Painting.

I have enjoyed all of the different blues. But you are the greatest artist, so I wouldn’t expect less.

What a beautiful show, your paintings were stunning displayed together. And thanks for the lesson on all those amazing shades of blue. I will think of them when I look at the water now💙
