A vizier in ancient Egypt is similar to a consigliere in the modern day Mafia, a deputy, a right hand man to the big boss, specifically the Pharaoh. Remember Robert Duvall as Tom Hagen, Don Corleone’s voice of reason in the Godfather? How about FDR‘s Harry Hopkins. Well that would be the role of the vizier. He advised his boss in everyday matters such as who to leave offerings to in his tomb or how many layers to add to his pyramid.

Chiaroscuro Painting

Oil painting with the chiaroscuro technique illuminates the focus area with a strong light. All other areas are painted with less detail, lower values, and intensity of color giving a mysterious appearance. By putting one or two objects in the important focus area, a strong but simple composition will emerge. Combining these oil painting techniques with a selection of superior natural pigments and oil paints result in the beautiful and evocative quality known as Chiaroscuro Painting.
